Kwara United will return to the Rashidi Yekini Main Bowl on Sunday as they host Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan in their 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 14 fixture. This comes after back-to-back away matches against Nasarawa United and El-Kanemi Warriors.
Last season, the Harmony Boys defeated the Oluyole Warriors in Ilorin but suffered defeat in the reverse fixture in Ibadan, adding another chapter to the long-standing rivalry between the two sides.
Given the history, tension, and fierce competition that usually accompany this fixture, players and officials from both camps are maintaining strict focus and avoiding the traditional pre-match banter on and off the pitch.
For Kwara United, the match holds significant importance as they continue their push to stay within touching distance of the title-challenging teams this season.
Team morale remains high despite a few injury setbacks. AbdulRahman Olarewaju, Gidado Toheeb, and Yahaya Ibrahim have been ruled out, while Akanni Akeem and Saheed Olaniyi have returned to the squad and are available for selection.
Head coach Ashifat Suleiman emphasized that the team has moved past their defeat to El-Kanemi Warriors and is fully concentrated on securing maximum points at home. He also urged supporters and stakeholders to stand firmly behind the team as they work toward achieving their season’s goals.
