Kwara United, struggling with injuries and poor form, aim to return to winning ways as they host Katsina United.
Kwara United, who have gone three games without a win, will be seeking redemption in front of their home fans as they welcome Katsina United to the Rashidi Yekini Main Bowl, Ilorin, for the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 9 fixture.
The Harmony Boys have endured a difficult start to the season, facing multiple challenges ranging from their early exit in the CAF Confederation Cup at the hands of Ghana’s Asante Kotoko, to a worrying winless streak in the league. The club has also been hit by several injuries to key players and recently parted ways with their Technical Adviser, Tunde Sanni.
However, there is some good news from the Afonja Warlords’ camp, as five players — Musa Abdulafeez, Babatunde Bright, Olaniyi Saheed, Oluwaseun Ogunribide, and Ini Emmanuel — have returned from injury and are in contention to feature against Katsina United.
The development comes as a big relief for interim head coach, Ashifat Suleiman, who is determined to stabilize the team and guide them back to form.
It will be recalled that a lone strike from Adeshina Gata separated both sides in the same fixture last season.
Kwara United will hope their recovering squad can deliver a much-needed victory when they face Katsina United this weekend at the Rashidi Yekini Stadium, Ilorin.
