Kwara United Queens Fall 3-2 to Surprise FA in NWFL Nationwide Warm-Up

Kwara United Queens stepped up preparations for the forthcoming NWFL Nationwide competition with a 3-2 defeat to Surprise FA in a test match at the KFA Pitch.

The encounter provided the Queens with another opportunity to assess their readiness and fine-tune their squad ahead of the competition scheduled to hold from Aug. 15 to 23 in Aba, Abia State.

Kwara United Queens took an early lead through substitute Tayo, who reacted quickest to a rebound from a corner kick to put the hosts ahead.

Surprise FA, however, responded strongly, scoring twice in quick succession to turn the game around before the interval and take a 2-1 lead into halftime.

The visitors continued their dominance after the restart and increased their advantage shortly before the hour mark to make it 3-1.

Kwara United Queens refused to give up and reduced the deficit late in the encounter through substitute Yunusa Mariam, who kept her composure to finish clinically and make it 3-2.

The hosts pushed for an equaliser in the closing minutes, but Surprise FA held firm defensively to secure the victory.

Despite the setback, the encounter provided valuable competitive exposure for Kwara United Queens as they continue to build towards the NWFL Nationwide competition.

The Queens have been drawn alongside Solo Wonders Babes of Akwa Ibom and Spunky Blazers of Edo in their group as they seek to secure promotion.

The team is expected to resume training on Friday as preparations for the competition continue, with the coaching crew focusing on improving match sharpness and tactical cohesion ahead of the crucial promotion campaign in Aba.
