The second round of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) returns this midweek with Matchday 20 fixtures across league venues, as Kwara United host Bendel Insurance at the Rashidi Yekini Mainbowl, George Innih Stadium in Ilorin.
Kwara United endured a disappointing outing on Matchday 19 in Benin, where the Harmony Boys fell to a two-goal first-half defeat. However, the reverse fixture promises an intense contest, with both sides expected to bring renewed energy, firepower, and determination.
Ahead of the clash, Kwara United are finalizing squad adjustments, welcoming a few new signings while releasing some players by mutual consent as the league’s second stanza begins. Injury concerns have eased for the Ilorin-based side, with Adeshina Gata and Aliyu Salaudeen now fully fit and available for selection. Ini Emmanuel and Ibrahim Yahaya remain sidelined as they continue their rehabilitation.
Former Kano Pillars winger Mustapha Salisu Musa, who impressed during trials, is also expected to be unveiled soon. Musa expressed delight at adapting to Coach Ashifat Suleiman’s philosophy of creative and attacking football, describing his move to Kwara United as a “mission accomplished.”
Coach Ashifat Suleiman expressed confidence in his team’s ability to secure maximum points against Bendel Insurance. “My boys have responded positively to tactical instructions during our training sessions, and that gives us enough assurance going into the game,” he said. “Our target for this month is not to drop points against our opponents, and we will build on that as the league progresses.”
