Kwara United were held to a 0–0 draw against Shooting Stars (3SC) on Sunday in Matchday 14 of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League at the Rashidi Yekini Main Bowl of George Innih Stadium in Ilorin.
The Harmony Boys started brightly, creating early pressure as Johnmark Aule and Ini Emmanuel troubled the Oluyole Warriors’ defense. Despite their efforts, the 3SC backline held firm to keep the hosts from scoring. Junior Aimufua came close in the 37th minute, but his attempt went unconverted.
After the break, Kwara United pressed harder, but 3SC’s defensive organization remained solid. Goalkeeper Nurudeen Badmus was outstanding between the posts, making several crucial saves to preserve the clean sheet. Arinze Ogbonna nearly broke the deadlock with a header that rattled the crossbar and was subsequently cleared by a defender, while Alao Mohammed also missed a chance to give Kwara United the lead.
Badmus’ heroics in the closing stages earned him the Cyteck Man of the Match award, sponsored by Engr. Ahmed Olaide, with Ambassador Yahaya Seriki and Coach Usman Biffo also recognized for their support. Head Coach Ashifat Suleiman acknowledged that the team was unlucky not to secure all three points, citing 3SC’s aggressive and physical style as a disruption to their rhythm. “3SC played very aggressive and physical football. It affected them too, as they lost two players to injury in the first half. We’ll regroup and aim to make up for the lost points,” he said.
With the draw, Kwara United remain 11th on the league table with 18 points from 14 matches. Their next fixture will be an away game against Barau in Kano next weekend.
