Ten months after winning the prestigious President Federation Cup, Kwara United Football Club has yet to receive the ₦50 million prize money attached to the title.
The Ilorin-based side secured the historic triumph after edging Abakaliki FC on penalties following a goalless draw in the final played at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos. The victory marked the club’s first Federation Cup title.
However, information gathered from a reliable source indicates that the club has not received the financial reward nearly a year after the achievement.
According to the source, officials of the club have made inquiries to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) over the delay, but no clear explanation has been provided.
“Kwara United haven’t received their President Federation Cup prize money.
We’ve asked NFF General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi, about it, and he hasn’t given any reason why the club hasn’t received the money,” the source said.
