Kwara United have taken another step towards strengthening their commercial operations after unveiling Nigerian food delivery company Chowdeck as their shirt sponsor for the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
The one-year partnership, unveiled on Saturday at the club’s secretariat in Ilorin, will see Chowdeck’s logo displayed prominently on the front of Kwara United’s jersey throughout the campaign.
However, the agreement extends beyond traditional shirt sponsorship, with both parties targeting greater use of digital platforms to improve the club’s engagement with supporters.
As part of the partnership, supporters will be able to purchase Kwara United match tickets and official club jerseys through the Chowdeck app, creating a direct digital link between the club and its fan base.
Chowdeck Head of Operations, Nasir Umar, who grew up in Ilorin, said the partnership offered him an opportunity to reconnect with the city through his company.
“I grew up here in Ilorin, and it is an honour for me to come back to the state through my company to sponsor Kwara United for the 2026/27 season,” Umar said.
He added that Chowdeck was interested in using its digital expertise to contribute beyond simply putting its logo on the club’s jersey.
“We are a digital company, and part of what we do is try to digitalise the space as much as we can. Outside of sponsoring the jerseys, we are also providing the opportunity for people to buy match tickets online and purchase the club jersey on our app.”
Kwara United Chairman, Kumbi Titiloye, described the agreement as a broader partnership capable of opening new opportunities for the club.
“We are partnering with Chowdeck as our shirt sponsor and partner, and they are also going to get involved in matchday tickets and so many other things that will come around it,” he said.
Titiloye also acknowledged the role of the Kwara State Sports Commission in facilitating the relationship, expressing optimism that the partnership would grow beyond the initial one-year agreement.
Kwara State Football Association Chairman, Idris Abdullahi Thuraya, said stronger sponsorship structures were essential to the sustainable development of football.
“FIFA encourages strong sponsorship and partnership because they are key aspects of how football should be run,” Thuraya said.
He commended the stakeholders involved in bringing the partnership to fruition and urged them to pursue more collaborations capable of strengthening the game in the state.
Kwara State Sports Commission Chairman, Coach Bola Mogaji, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to sports development under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
“Under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, we will continue to do whatever we can to support sports development in the state,” Mogaji said.
The partnership provides Kwara United with a new commercial platform as the club seeks to expand its revenue streams, modernise supporter engagement and build a stronger connection between its football operations and the digital economy.
