Chikamso Amaefula’s 52nd-minute strike handed Kun Khalifat a 1–0 victory over Kwara United, condemning the Harmony Boys to another away defeat in the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 23 played at the Dan Ayam Stadium, Owerri.
Kwara United approached the encounter with zeal and determination, hoping to secure a valuable away point in view of their position on the league table.
However, their spirited effort was halted by a disciplined Kun Khalifat side, who capitalised on their moment to claim all three points.
Speaking during the post-match interview, Kwara United head coach Ashifat Suleiman attributed the team’s current struggles to loss of form and the movement of key players for foreign trials.
He assured fans that the club would strengthen the squad before the close of the transfer window.
“This is a difficult moment for us. We have not scored a goal since the restart of the league in the second stanza. We’ve lost form and players to foreign trials, but we will surely strengthen the squad and ensure we maintain our league status,” Suleiman stated.
Following the defeat, Kwara United dropped to 19th position on the NPFL standings after 23 matches.
The Harmony Boys will return to Ilorin to face Warri Wolves on Monday, Feb. 2, with an outstanding fixture against Rivers United.
