As Kwara United intensify preparations for their 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 21 clash against Ikorodu City in Lagos on Sunday, the Harmony Boys have received a significant boost with the return of creative midfielder Johnmark Aule, who is now available for selection.
In addition, Ibrahim Yahaya and Philip Ozor are expected to regain full fitness ahead of the midweek Match Day 22 encounter against Rivers United, further strengthening the squad options available to head coach Ashifat Suleiman.
The absence of key players affected Coach Suleiman’s tactical plans during last Wednesday’s Match Day 20 fixture against Bendel Insurance in Ilorin, where Kwara United suffered a narrow 1–0 defeat in their opening match of the second stanza of the season.
Eager to respond, the Harmony Boys approach Sunday’s fixture as a wounded lion, physically and mentally prepared for a tough contest against an Ikorodu City side enjoying an impressive campaign.
The fixture also carries familiar rivalry. Last season, Ikorodu City held Kwara United to a draw in Ilorin before securing a home win in Lagos, while earlier this season both teams shared the spoils in the first-round meeting in Ilorin.
Ikorodu City currently sit third on the NPFL table with 32 points from 20 matches, while Kwara United are 14th with 24 points from the same number of games. With crucial fixtures ahead, the Harmony Boys are determined to redeem themselves following their recent home setback.
Kwara United are scheduled to train at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena on Saturday to familiarize themselves with the turf, as Coach Suleiman is expected to make changes to the starting lineup ahead of Sunday’s encounter.
