The Proprietor of Remo Stars Football Club, Kunle Soname, has fulfilled his promise by showering cash and car gifts on the club after a historic Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title triumph that ended a 25-year wait for the Southwest region.
Club owner and philanthropist Kunle Soname announced a ₦25 million cash gift to the players and staff of the Sky Blue Stars for clinching the 2024/25 NPFL title, the club’s first in history.
The Ikenne-based side secured the title in dominant fashion, amassing 71 points from 38 matches, with 22 wins, 5 draws, and 11 losses.
Crucially, they remained unbeaten at home, while collecting 18 valuable points away, a key factor in their successful campaign.
In addition to the reward for the men’s team, the club’s women’s side, Remo Stars Ladies, who impressively finished in the top four in only their second season, were granted a ₦10 million reward.
Youth development was also recognized, as Beyond Limits, Remo’s academy side, received ₦5 million for their recent triumph at the Gothia Cup in Sweden, one of the world’s most prestigious youth tournaments.
The Remo Stars Supporters Club was not left out, with ₦2 million earmarked in appreciation of their unwavering support throughout the season.
In a heartwarming gesture, standout midfielder Olamilekan Adedayo was honored with the club’s biggest individual reward—a brand-new car—for his influence during the championship-winning campaign.
This remarkable feat goes beyond silverware. It marks the first time since the 1999/2000 season, when Julius Berger FC were champions, that a team from Southwest Nigeria has lifted the NPFL title.
