Russian Premier League champions FC Krasnodar are set to part company with Super Eagles forward Olakunle Olusegun as the club reshapes its squad ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The Nigerian attacker, who joined Krasnodar in 2022, is expected to leave after the club decided not to extend his stay. His departure will make him one of the notable free agents available during the summer transfer window.
Olusegun arrived in Russia after attracting attention with his impressive performances at youth level. Since then, he has established himself as a dependable squad member, contributing across domestic league and cup competitions.
During his three-year spell with Krasnodar, the former Golden Eaglets star made 70 appearances in all competitions and scored 10 goals. His versatility across the forward line and willingness to work for the team earned him regular opportunities during his time with the Russian club.
The 2025/26 season proved memorable for Krasnodar as the club secured the Russian Premier League title. Although Olusegun was not always a regular starter, he played his part throughout the campaign and leaves with a league winner's medal after helping the club achieve one of the biggest milestones in its history.
With his contract coming to an end, the 23-year-old is now expected to pursue a fresh challenge elsewhere. His experience in European football, combined with his age and attacking qualities, is likely to attract interest from clubs across several leagues during the transfer window.
Olusegun first rose to prominence as a member of Nigeria's Golden Eaglets and has continued his development since moving abroad. His performances in Russia also strengthened his profile among the country's emerging attacking talents and earned him recognition at senior international level.
A move to a new club could provide the forward with increased playing time and an opportunity to continue his progress as he seeks to establish himself as a regular option for the Super Eagles. Finding the right environment will be important as Nigeria prepares for upcoming international competitions, including the qualification campaigns for major tournaments.
With the summer transfer window now in full swing, attention will turn to where Olusegun continues his career. Given his experience, potential and championship pedigree, the Nigerian forward is expected to receive offers as clubs strengthen their squads ahead of the new season.
