Kemi Adegbuyi Fires FC Robo Queens Into NWFL Super Six With Five Games Remaining

Posted : 08 April 2026

Lagos-based FC Robo Queens have officially confirmed their place in the 2025/26 Nigeria Women Football League Super Six playoffs. The club achieved this feat with five matches remaining in the regular season, marking a dominant campaign. Forward Kemi Adegbuyi has emerged as the primary catalyst for the team’s clinical performances and early qualification.

By early April 2026, the Queens had gathered an impressive 28 points from just 13 matches. This tally placed them firmly at the top of Group B, well clear of their nearest rivals. Adegbuyi’s ability to find the net in high-stakes games has been the difference for the Lagos side this year.

The forward began her scoring run early in the season during a heavy 5-1 win over Benue Queens. She followed that performance with a crucial brace against Confluence Queens to maintain the team's winning momentum. Her knack for scoring early goals was also evident in a narrow victory over perennial rivals Rivers Angels.

Adegbuyi does not lead the attack alone, as she benefits from a highly effective partnership with teammates. Alongside Opeyemi Ajakaye and Mariam Yahaya, she forms a versatile front three that has outpaced most defenses in the league. This attacking trio is responsible for the vast majority of the club’s goals this season.

Personal motivation has played a significant role in Adegbuyi’s success after the club missed the playoffs last year. She set a preseason goal of scoring at least 10 to 15 goals to ensure the team’s progress. Currently, she has six goals to her name and five more games to reach her personal milestone.

The coaching staff has praised the team's tactical discipline and the chemistry among the forward line. Securing a playoff spot so early allows the team to manage player fitness before the championship round. It also provides an opportunity to test squad depth in the remaining regular-season fixtures.

All eyes now turn to the Super Six tournament, where the national title will be decided. Robo Queens are searching for their first major league silverware to crown this historic run. If Adegbuyi maintains her current form, the Lagos club will be the team to beat in the playoffs.
