Katsina United Stun El-Kanemi Warriors to Kick-Start NPFL Super 6 Campaign

Katsina United FC began their campaign at the NPFL Super 6 Pre-Season Tournament in Jos on a high note, defeating President Federation Cup champions El-Kanemi Warriors 2–0 in an impressive opening-day display.

The Chanji Boys settled quickly into the contest and took control with an aggressive attacking approach that yielded two goals before the interval.

Abdulrahman Garba emerged as the hero of the encounter, breaking the deadlock in the 14th minute with a composed finish to give Katsina United an early advantage.

The forward struck again in the 27th minute, completing his brace and putting the Chanji Boys firmly in command with a 2–0 lead.

El-Kanemi Warriors, who have enjoyed a strong run of form, struggled to cope with Katsina United’s intensity and organisation in the opening 45 minutes, with the Chanji Boys taking their two-goal advantage into the break.

The Federation Cup champions improved after the restart and tried to reduce the deficit, but Katsina United’s defence stood firm, frustrating their attempts to find a route back into the game.

Rather than allowing their opponents to dictate the tempo, the Chanji Boys remained disciplined and managed the game effectively until the final whistle.

The victory gives Katsina United an early boost in the Jos tournament and will further raise confidence within the squad as the club fine-tunes preparations for the 2026/2027 Nigeria Premier Football League season.

For El-Kanemi Warriors, the defeat provides an early test of their resilience as they look to regroup and bounce back in their next Super 6 fixture.
