Katsina United join NPFL Super 6 pre-season tournament in Jos

Katsina United FC have been invited to participate in the NPFL Super 6 Pre-Season Tournament scheduled for Jos, Plateau State, as preparations gather momentum for the 2026/2027 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

The club received the official invitation in a letter dated Aug. 17 and addressed to its Chairman/Supervising Coordinator, Surajo Malumfashi, by the NPFL Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi.

According to the invitation, the tournament is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, Aug. 19, at the Jos City Stadium.

The competition will provide participating clubs, particularly those preparing for domestic and continental engagements, an opportunity to assess their squads and fine-tune preparations ahead of the new league season.

For Katsina United, the tournament will offer the technical crew a valuable opportunity to assess new recruits and emerging talents, while also improving the team’s match fitness and tactical cohesion.

The club’s participation comes amid preparations for the new NPFL campaign, with the Chanji Boys currently featuring in the ongoing Gusau/Ahlan Pre-Season Tournament in Katsina.

The Jos tournament is expected to provide another stern test for Katsina United as the club continues to build a squad capable of competing effectively in the 2026/2027 NPFL season.

It will also enable the technical crew to identify areas requiring improvement and give players further opportunities to compete for places in the team’s final squad.

With the new NPFL season fast approaching, Katsina United will be hoping to maximise the Jos tournament as part of its preparations for a successful campaign.
