Katsina United FC continued their impressive preparations for the new football season with a convincing 4–0 victory over Geewa FC to secure a place in the quarter-finals of the Gusau/Ahlan Pre-Season Tournament in Katsina.
The Chanji Boys delivered a dominant performance at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, with their attacking quality proving too much for Geewa FC as they comfortably booked their place in the last eight.
Mubarak Sani was the standout player in the first half, putting Katsina United ahead in the 43rd minute before converting a penalty two minutes later to give his side a 2–0 lead at the break.
Katsina United maintained their control after the restart and extended their advantage in the 70th minute when Bakary found the back of the net to make it 3–0.
The final highlight came in the 90th minute when youngster Umar Rabiu, popularly known as Dugui, completed the rout with his first senior-team goal.
Rabiu’s strike capped a memorable senior debut and provided another encouraging sign for Katsina United as they continue to fine-tune their squad ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The emphatic victory has set up a quarter-final meeting with Nasarawa United, scheduled for Sunday, August 16, at 2 p.m. at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium.
Katsina United will now look to build on the confidence gained from their comprehensive victory as they aim to progress further in the pre-season competition.
