Katsina United Bolster Squad with 11 New Signings for NPFL Campaign

Katsina United Football Club has reinforced its squad with the unveiling of 11 new players ahead of the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

The players were officially presented by the Club Chairman and Supervising Coordinator, Surajo Malumfashi, during a ceremony held at the club's secretariat inside the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina.

Malumfashi said the recruitment drive reflects the club's ambition to assemble a stronger and more competitive squad capable of achieving its objectives in the upcoming campaign.

According to him, the new additions were carefully selected to strengthen every department of the team as preparations gather momentum for the new season.

The new arrivals are goalkeeper Koroma Francis, who joined from Wilber Force FC of Sierra Leone on a two-year contract, and experienced striker Samson Obi, who signed a two-year deal after spells with Hapoel Haifa, Abia Warriors, Enyimba, Al Nasr, Al Anwar, and Rivers United.

Also unveiled was central midfielder Michael Ibeh Okoro, who returns to Katsina United on a two-year contract after previous stints with clubs including Abia Warriors, Akwa United, Plateau United, FC Andijon, Mash'al, Al Talaba SC, and Remo Stars.

The midfield was further strengthened with the signing of defensive midfielder Ubong Essien from Akwa United on a two-year deal.

In defence, the club secured the services of Eric Ekpere from Abia Warriors, Chinedu Ozor Benjamin from Kano Pillars, and Abba Musa from Wikki Tourists, with all three central defenders signing two-year contracts.

Katsina United also added attacking options by signing striker Lius Dadong from Kano Pillars on a one-year contract and winger Joshua Akpan from Shooting Stars on a two-year deal.

Goalkeeper Kolawale Oladipo joined from Bayelsa United on a two-year contract to provide competition between the posts, while Emmanuel Bakare arrived from Warri Wolves to strengthen the left-back position.

The Chanji Boys said the latest recruitment is part of a broader strategy to improve the quality and depth of the squad as they prepare for the challenges of the new NPFL season.

With the new signings now integrated into the team, Katsina United will hope the reinforcements provide the foundation for a stronger campaign in the 2026/27 top-flight season.

The additions underline the club's determination to compete strongly in the forthcoming NPFL campaign, with management expressing confidence that the blend of experience and fresh talent will help the team achieve its ambitions throughout the season.
