Karfamoriah FC Beats FC Nzidane 4-1, Closes Group Phase Unbeaten

 Karfamoriah FC beat FC Nzidane 4-1 on Thursday, August 20. The match was the final group-phase fixture of the West Africa Champion's Cup 2026. It was played at the M'Ballou Mady Diakité stadium in Kankan.

Karfamoriah FC had already booked their final spot before kickoff. The host club went into the match unbeaten. They opened with a 4-0 win over Star Sport Academy. Next came a 1-0 win over Stade Malien de Bamako. Then a 2-2 draw with AS Real de Bamako followed. Thursday's win stretched that run to four matches without a loss.

FC Nzidane arrived in mixed form. The Mauritanian side lost their opener 2-0 to Djoliba AC. They bounced back with a 3-2 win over FC Diarra. A win on Thursday would have given them something to build on. Instead, their group phase ends in defeat.

This was Karfamoriah's fourth match of the tournament: under this year's format, the host club plays one more fixture than the rest of the field, in recognition of their status as special guest. The other clubs play three matches each.

Karfamoriah FC finishes the phase with the best record in the competition: four wins, one draw, and eleven goals scored across four games. For a club making its first appearance at the WACC, that is a strong opening statement.

Thursday marked the last day of the group phase. A rest day follows on August 21. The final is set for August 22, at the same Kankan stadium. Karfamoriah FC, known locally as "Les 6 Kilos," now waits to learn their opponent for the trophy.
