Kano Pillars Football Club have commenced preparations for the 2026/2027 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, declaring their ambition to challenge for the league title and secure a return to continental football.
The club officially opened its pre-season programme on Monday with the first training session held at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano under the supervision of Head Coach Ahmed Yaro-Yaro and his assistant, Gambo Muhammad.
The opening session featured light fitness exercises and tactical drills as the technical crew assessed the players' fitness levels ahead of an intensive pre-season schedule.
Addressing the players before training, the club's Chairman, Musbahu Garo, represented by board member Alhaji Abba Galadima, described the new campaign as "a season of serious business" and urged the squad to remain disciplined, committed and focused.
He reaffirmed the management's commitment to providing the support needed for the team to compete for the NPFL title and earn qualification for continental competitions.
Garo also challenged the technical crew and players to repay the confidence of the management by producing improved performances and consistent results throughout the season.
Team captain Rabiu Ali, speaking on behalf of the players, thanked the management for its continued support and pledged the squad's determination to restore Kano Pillars to the top of Nigerian football.
Head Coach Ahmed Yaro-Yaro also appreciated the club's management for its confidence in the technical crew, assuring supporters that the coaching staff would build a disciplined and competitive team capable of challenging for major honours in the 2026/2027 season.
With preparations now underway, Kano Pillars will look to build momentum throughout the pre-season as they fine-tune the squad for the new campaign. The club remains focused on competing for domestic honours and securing a return to continental football.
