Juventus targets Ademola Lookman as alternative to United's forward

Posted : 08 May 2025

Juventus is reportedly eyeing Nigerian international Ademola Lookman as a potential signing for the upcoming summer transfer window. The Atalanta forward has caught the club's attention as an alternative to Manchester United's Rasmus Hojlund, according to Tuttosport. Juventus aims to bolster their attacking options as they prepare for the 2025–26 season, and sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli is said to be exploring a range of possibilities.

While Hojlund is Juventus' primary target, they are aware of the competition from Napoli, who might use Victor Osimhen as leverage in talks with Manchester United. The situation regarding Hojlund’s potential transfer is still uncertain, leading Juventus to consider other options, with Lookman emerging as a viable alternative.

The 27-year-old Lookman has enjoyed a standout season with Atalanta, showcasing his speed, versatility, and goal-scoring prowess in Serie A. His performances have made him an attractive prospect for Juventus, who are eager to strengthen their attacking department. Lookman's ability to make an immediate impact is a key selling point for the club.

Lookman’s consistent contributions to Atalanta's success this season have not gone unnoticed. His familiarity with Serie A makes him even more appealing to Juventus, who value players that can adapt quickly to the competitive Italian league. He has played a crucial role in helping Atalanta secure third place in the Serie A standings with 68 points after 35 matches, ahead of Juventus, who are in fourth with 63 points.

Additionally, Juventus is reportedly keeping an eye on Atalanta’s Mateo Retegui as a potential backup option. Giuntoli is said to be open to multiple options, especially in case the pursuit of Hojlund proves to be more complicated than expected. This strategic approach ensures that Juventus has alternatives lined up should their primary target become unavailable.

The focus on Serie A-based players like Lookman and Retegui suggests that Juventus is looking for talent with minimal adaptation time. This would allow new signings to integrate seamlessly into the squad and make an immediate impact, particularly as the club aims for Champions League qualification.

As the summer transfer window draws near, Juventus supporters will be keenly watching to see if Lookman becomes the latest Nigerian star to join the club. His potential move to the Turin giants could mark the beginning of a new chapter in his career, adding to Juventus' pursuit of success both domestically and internationally.
