Jurgen Klopp is reportedly set for a surprising return to football management, with Italian media claiming he has reached an agreement to become the new head coach of AS Roma. The former Liverpool boss, who stepped down last season after nine successful years at Anfield, is expected to take over from Claudio Ranieri at the end of the current campaign. Ranieri, meanwhile, is slated to remain at the club in a professional managerial role, contributing to the broader strategic direction of the team.
Roma is currently competing for a Champions League spot, with only one round remaining in the Serie A season. According to La Stampa, the club is preparing for a significant overhaul of its squad and sees Klopp as the ideal figure to lead this new chapter.
Despite earlier reports linking him to another club and even to the Real Madrid job—ultimately expected to go to Xabi Alonso—Klopp reportedly did not hesitate when approached by the Italian side.
Having guided Liverpool to seven major trophies, including a historic Premier League title in 2019/20 and a Champions League win in 2018/19, Klopp opted for a sabbatical at the end of last season. He is currently working with Red Bull’s football division in a senior management capacity. However, this potential move to Roma signals his readiness to return to coaching and take on a new challenge in Italian football.
