Jobe Bellingham Earns First England Call-Up as Cole Palmer Is Left Out by Thomas Tuchel

Posted : 06 November 2026

Jobe Bellingham has received his first senior England call-up, joining his older brother Jude in Thomas Tuchel's 25-man squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures against Croatia and Spain.

The Borussia Dortmund midfielder has been rewarded for his impressive performances at club level during the early stages of the season. His selection marks a significant moment for the Bellingham family, as the brothers prepare for the possibility of representing England together at senior international level.

Tuchel praised Jobe's progress, highlighting his growing influence at Dortmund and his previous performances for England's youth teams. The England manager described his inclusion as an opportunity earned through consistent performances rather than simply his family connection.

Fulham teenager Josh King has also received his first senior international selection after impressing with his versatility and performances despite his club's difficult Premier League campaign. Liverpool's 18-year-old winger Rio Ngumoha is another young talent included in the squad.

Chelsea forward Cole Palmer is among the notable absentees from the squad, alongside Manchester City's Phil Foden and Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo. Palmer has struggled to maintain consistent involvement with the national team after withdrawing from the previous international camp because of an injury concern.

Tuchel previously questioned the Chelsea player's limited opportunities to impress at international level, saying he needed to make better use of his chances. However, the England manager insisted that Palmer's omission was not personal, explaining that he wanted to reward players who had performed well during the previous camp.

England have also welcomed back Arsenal defender Ben White, while Djed Spence and Declan Rice return after missing the previous selection through injury.

The Three Lions currently occupy second place in their Nations League group after winning three of their opening four matches, with their only defeat coming against Spain.

Tuchel's side will host Croatia at Wembley on November 12 before travelling to Madrid to face Spain three days later.

England need just one point from the remaining fixtures to secure qualification for the Nations League quarter-finals in March, although winning both matches would strengthen their chances of finishing top of the group.

Another major storyline surrounding the squad is Harry Kane's opportunity to make history. The Bayern Munich striker recently equalled Peter Shilton's record of 125 appearances for England's men's national team and could become the country's most-capped male international if he features in the upcoming matches.

Kane's selection also comes after his recent Ballon d'Or triumph, adding further significance to what could be a memorable international break for the England captain.
