Former Brentford striker Ivan Toney has earned a recall to the England squad for next month’s matches against Andorra and Senegal. This marks Toney’s first call-up since his move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli last summer, where he has scored an impressive 28 goals in 42 appearances this season. England head coach Thomas Tuchel, who had previously left him out of the March squad, has been convinced by Toney’s strong form to bring him back into the fold.
England will kick off their fixtures with a World Cup qualifier against Andorra on 7 June, followed by a friendly against Senegal at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground on 10 June. Tuchel’s squad features eight players from clubs involved in the upcoming Club World Cup, including Jude Bellingham from Real Madrid, who has been selected despite needing shoulder surgery after the tournament. Notably, Manchester City’s Phil Foden is missing from the squad, and Manchester United have no representatives.
Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah has received his first senior call-up, highlighting Tuchel’s willingness to integrate new talent. With the World Cup qualifiers approaching and key players like Bellingham preparing for surgery, England’s squad shows a mix of experience and fresh faces as they gear up for important matches in June.
