Inter Milan set for €7.5 million windfall as Pisa move to sign Super Eagles star

Posted : 05 May 2026

Inter Milan are reportedly set to receive a significant financial boost following a breakthrough in negotiations regarding Ebenezer Akinsanmiro. The Nigerian midfielder joined the Nerazzurri from Remo Stars in early 2023 for a modest fee of approximately €500,000. After progressing through the youth ranks and gaining senior experience on loan, the 21-year-old has finally seen his future resolved in Italy.

Pisa have officially decided to activate the buyout clause in Akinsanmiro’s current loan agreement. This move will see the newly relegated side pay Inter Milan a total of €7 million to secure the player on a permanent basis. Given the initial low cost of the transfer three years ago, the deal represents a remarkable €6.5 million profit for the reigning Serie A champions.

Despite the permanent sale, Inter Milan have maintained their strategic long-term interest in the Super Eagles prospect. The club successfully negotiated an €8 million buy-back option as part of the new permanent agreement. This ensures that the Nerazzurri can recall the talented midfielder to the San Siro if his development continues to upwardly trend in the coming seasons.

Akinsanmiro’s current campaign with Pisa has been a mixture of individual growth and collective disappointment. He featured in 22 matches throughout the season but could not prevent the club’s return to Serie B. Pisa’s relegation was mathematically confirmed on May 1 following a 2-1 defeat to Lecce; leaving them at the bottom of the table with 18 points.

On the international stage, Akinsanmiro has continued to build his profile within the Nigerian national team setup. He was part of the Super Eagles squad that participated in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. While his domestic minutes fluctuated after the tournament, his recent return to the starting lineup convinced Pisa’s hierarchy of his long-term value.

Inter Milan, recently crowned as 2026 Serie A champions under manager Cristian Chivu, will use the funds to bolster their championship-winning squad. The midfield remains highly competitive with stars like Nicolo Barella and Hakan Calhanoglu blocking a direct path for youth players. By securing this deal, Inter ensures a healthy profit while keeping a safety net for a potential future return.
