Reigning Serie A champions Inter Milan face a crucial decision regarding the future of Nigerian midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro this summer. The 21-year-old talent joined the Nerazzurri in 2023 but has spent significant time developing away from the club. Due to intense competition within the first-team squad, the midfielder completed consecutive loan spells to gain vital senior experience.
Two seasons ago, the former Remo Stars playmaker joined Sampdoria on loan in Serie B. Most recently, he spent the campaign with Pisa following their promotion to the top flight. He provided one assist across 25 appearances during his time there; however, his efforts could not prevent the club from finishing at the bottom of the table and suffering relegation.
When Akinsanmiro joined Pisa, the clubs included a purchase option in the contract. The agreement gave the side the right to sign the Nigerian permanently for a fixed fee of €7.5 million. Following his reliable performances, the club has signaled their definitive intent to activate this valuation.
The midfielder has thoroughly proven his quality since arriving in Italian football. He established himself as a reliable asset known for his high work rate and tactical intelligence. Because of these strong attributes, Pisa is desperate to retain his services for their upcoming campaign.
However, the transfer situation is complicated by an underlying buy-back clause. Inter Milan retains an €8.5 million counter-option which becomes active this summer. The Nerazzurri management continues to rate the midfielder highly and believes he has immense long-term potential.
The Serie A giants now hold the final authority over his destination. If they trigger the clause, they will bring him back to San Siro. The club will then decide whether to integrate him into the first team or arrange another loan spell.
