Inter Milan Stage Dramatic Comeback to Move Closer to Serie A Title as Napoli Slip Up

Posted : 13 April 2026

Inter Milan took a huge step toward the Serie A title after producing a stunning 4–3 comeback win over Como, moving nine points clear at the top of the table. The champions-elect overturned a two-goal deficit in a thrilling contest that swung dramatically after half-time.

Como had taken control of the match through goals from Alex Valle and rising star Nico Paz, leaving Inter on the brink of a costly defeat. However, Marcus Thuram pulled one back in stoppage time before half-time and then equalised early in the second half after capitalising on a defensive mistake.

Denzel Dumfries completed the turnaround with a powerful header from a set-piece before adding his second goal to seal the comeback, giving Inter a crucial victory with only a few matches remaining in the season.

Como did not give up, with Lucas Da Cunha converting a late penalty to set up a tense finish, while Alberto Moreno came close to a dramatic equaliser after striking the crossbar in stoppage time. Despite the defeat, Como remain just outside the Champions League places after a strong campaign.

Elsewhere, Napoli suffered a damaging setback in their title defence after being held to a 1–1 draw by Parma. Scott McTominay equalised for Napoli, but their slow start left them chasing the game after conceding within the opening minute.

Napoli manager Antonio Conte admitted his side struggled after falling behind so early, praising their effort but acknowledging the difficulty of breaking down a defensive Parma side. The result leaves Napoli needing a near-perfect finish to the season to stay in the title race.

Parma’s draw adds to their push for survival, while Genoa also strengthened their position with a late 2–1 win over Sassuolo in a fiery encounter that saw both sides reduced to ten men after a tunnel altercation.

With six games left, Inter now sit firmly in control of the Scudetto race, while Napoli’s hopes of retaining the title appear to be fading.
