Inaugural Nextgen Elite Championship Pre-Season Cup Kicks Off in Ogun State

The maiden edition of the Nextgen Elite Championship Pre-Season Cup will kick off on Sunday at the Dipo Dina International Stadium in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, with Best Talent FC of Mowe taking on MKA FA in one of the headline opening-day fixtures.

The four-day tournament, which runs from July 12 to July 15, is designed to prepare private football clubs for the forthcoming season while serving as a build-up to a proposed private league later in the year.

The competition will also provide off-season entertainment for football fans and give participating clubs the opportunity to assess their squads, improve match fitness, and fine-tune tactics ahead of the new campaign.

A total of 12 teams will compete in the championship. They are Best Talent FC, Super Accurate FC, FunTwins FC, Elegant FA, Aremu FC, NewHope Naija FC, Supreme God FC, Easy Nter Global FC, MKA FA, Anumorigba FC, Crystal FC, and B.E. Arena.

The teams have been drawn into four groups. Group A comprises Super Accurate FC, FunTwins FC, and B.E. Arena, while Group B features Best Talent FC, Easy Nter Global FC, and MKA FA.

Group C consists of Elegant FA, Aremu FC, and Kehinde Adeniji FA, while Group D includes NewHope Naija FC, Crystal FC, and Supreme God FC.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, the Chairman of Best Talent FC, Mr. Adeyinka Adeyemo, said the club's participation reflects its commitment to promoting football development and sports tourism in Nigeria.

According to him, the competition will strengthen the country's football culture, provide greater exposure for players, and attract both local and international interest in grassroots football.

"We decided to participate in this pre-season tournament to promote football tourism in Nigeria by attracting local and international teams.

"This approach will not only create business opportunities for our players but also energise football fans while opening doors for valuable partnerships with brands and other stakeholders," he said.

The club's General Manager, Mr. Sikiru Ibrahim, said the championship would provide the technical crew with an excellent opportunity to evaluate newly recruited players before the start of the competitive season.

"We are delighted to be part of this pre-season competition. It will give us a clearer understanding of the team's strength and help us identify areas that require improvement before the new season begins," Ibrahim said.

The opening day's fixtures will see Super Accurate FC face FunTwins FC at 11:00 a.m., followed by Best Talent FC against MKA FA at 12:00 p.m.

Elegant FA will take on Aremu FC at 1:00 p.m., while NewHope Naija FC will face Supreme God FC in the final match of the day at 2:00 p.m.

The tournament will conclude on Wednesday, July 15, with the top-performing teams battling for the inaugural Nextgen Elite Championship Pre-Season Cup title.
