The Imo State Football Association (IMFA) has rolled out a revised fixture schedule for the ongoing President’s Federation Cup, as the competition resumes in Owerri amid efforts to ease fixture congestion.
The adjustment, confirmed by the Head of the Technical Department, Charles Nnadi, is aimed at ensuring a smoother flow of matches while maintaining the integrity of the tournament. Participating teams have been directed to strictly adhere to the updated dates and kick-off times.
Action resumes today with a double-header, as Okpotemba FC lock horns with Markan FC at 1:00pm, before Akonye FC take on OISA FC in a 3:00pm encounter.
The competition continues on April 9 at the Township Stadium, Tetlow Road, where Giant Brillars will face Jossy Lad at 1:00pm. Later in the day, Heartland FC will square off against Egbema Brighter Stars at 3:00pm in a fixture that, despite its listing alongside second-round matches, is classified as a first-round tie.
Further matches are slated for April 14 at the same venue, with Campos FC set to meet Kun Khalifat B at 1:00pm, while Kun Khalifat FC will battle Campos B in the later fixture at 3:00pm.
Nnadi reiterated the association’s commitment to an orderly competition, stressing that compliance with the revised schedule is essential to avoid disruptions as the tournament progresses.
The rescheduling highlights the association's proactive approach to managing the logistical demands of the state's premier cup competition. By providing a clear roadmap for the remaining fixtures, the IMFA ensures that players and fans alike can focus on the high-stakes football expected in the coming days.
