2025/2026 NPFL Matchday 15: Ikorodu City to Test Might Against Abia Warriors in Lagos

High-flying Ikorodu City will aim to bounce back from their defeat in Katsina when they take on another in-form side, Abia Warriors, at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, in the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 15.

The unapologetic Umu Chineke have maintained solid performances since last year, when they qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup for the first time in their history.

Ikorodu City’s unbeaten run fell just short of nine games on the last matchday after slipping to a 2–1 defeat against Kano Pillars in Katsina.

“It was disappointing not to keep the run alive, but football doesn’t let anyone win forever,” said the club. The loss to Kano Pillars on Matchday 14 was an inevitable moment—a temporary setback in an otherwise impressive season.

Facing Abia Warriors

Last season, this fixture marked the final game of the campaign, Matchday 38, and it turned into a five-goal thriller, with Ikorodu City winning 3–2. Goals from Ayomide Cole, Tosin Oyedokun, and Musa Maliq secured the win as the Lagos side rounded off a strong season on a high note.

This time, Ikorodu City will be looking to deliver another entertaining affair, aiming for a more commanding win and total dominance throughout the match.

Currently the second-best team at home this season in terms of points, the Oga Boys will be keen to continue their winning run and light up the Arena, as always.

Shola Adelani has officially left Ikorodu City FC to join Botev Plovdiv in the Bulgarian top-flight league. James Faith, Ayomide Cole, Kelechi Onwe, and Moses Shodeinde remain unavailable. Michael Atata will miss his first game of the season due to illness, but the rest of the squad is ready and raring to go.
