The 2024/2025 NPFL debutants, Ikorodu City FC, are another team to watch after emerging as one of the most enterprising sides of last season.
However, heading into the new campaign, the club has undergone significant changes, including the departure of their talismanic manager, Nuruden Aweroro, who joined Shooting Stars SC, along with their Technical Director.
One positive for the Oga Boys is that they have managed to maintain their momentum, highlighted by their triumph in the maiden Eko International Cup. The pre-season tournament saw them compete against strong opposition, including Hearts of Oak (Ghana), Dadje (Benin), Kallon FC (Sierra Leone), SuperSport United (South Africa), Rivers United, and Shooting Stars SC.
In terms of reinforcements, Ikorodu City FC re-appointed Bright Ozadegbe for a second stint and brought in Rasheed Owolabi, a midfielder from Inter Lagos (NNL side). They also strengthened their squad with seven new signings and five homegrown academy graduates, reflecting their focus on both immediate impact and long-term development.
Ikorodu City FC now enter the 2025/2026 NPFL season with renewed ambition: a refreshed squad, experienced leadership, a strong pre-season performance, and a clear desire to climb higher.
Chances: 6/10
