Ikorodu City, Beyond Limits Lead Eight-Team Supremacy Cup Cast

Posted : 04 November 2026

The quest to discover Nigeria's next generation of football talents will take centre stage as eight teams converge on the Legacy Pitch, Lagos, for the 21st edition of the Supremacy Cup from Nov. 9 to 12.

The tournament, regarded as one of the platforms for grassroots football talent discovery, will feature a blend of established academies, community clubs and selected sides competing for honours.

Leading the line-up are Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Ikorodu City FC and Beyond Limits Football Academy, whose participation is expected to add quality and competitiveness to the four-day competition.

The official draw has placed the eight participating teams into two groups of four, with Group A comprising 36 Lion FC, Beyond Limits Football Academy, Edo Selected and Atlantic Selected.

Group B features Ikorodu City FC, Bariga Stars Football Club, Badagry Selected and Collin Edwin Sports Club, popularly known as the Gladiators.

The group-stage encounters will determine the teams advancing to the knockout rounds, with each side seeking to establish its credentials in the competition.

Beyond the battle for the trophy, the tournament is expected to provide emerging footballers with an opportunity to attract the attention of scouts, agents and other stakeholders in the football industry.

The Legacy Pitch, which has hosted several grassroots football competitions, is expected to provide a platform for young players to demonstrate their technical abilities, tactical awareness and competitive qualities.

Now in its 21st edition, the Supremacy Cup has built a reputation for providing exposure to promising footballers, some of whom have progressed towards professional careers, including opportunities abroad.

Organisers say this year's competition will sustain that tradition by creating opportunities for talented players to gain visibility and potentially secure pathways into professional football.

With the November 9 kick-off approaching, the eight teams will be looking beyond group-stage qualification as they seek to combine the pursuit of silverware with the opportunity to showcase emerging talents at one of Lagos' grassroots football gatherings.
