2024/2025 NNL Match Day 16: Igbajo United FC GM, Fakile, hails team’s spirit after 1-0 victory over Dakkada FC

Posted : 05 May 2025

The General Manager of Igbajo United Football Club, Adekunle Fakile, has praised the players, coaches, and backroom staff of the club for their spirited performance in Saturday’s crucial 1-0 victory over Dakkada FC in a Match Day 16 clash of the Nigeria National League (NNL).

Fakile commended the commitment and resilience shown by the team at home, acknowledging their determination and hard work throughout the match. He also expressed heartfelt appreciation to the club’s passionate supporters for their unwavering backing both on and off the pitch.

"Huge congratulations on yesterday's hard-fought 1-0 victory over Dakkada FC! Your collective effort, teamwork, and dedication paid off. We're proud of each and every one of you," said the GM.

"To our players, your skills and determination on the pitch inspire us all. To our coaches and backroom staff, your guidance and support are invaluable. And to our amazing fans, your unwavering support and passion drive us forward."

The match, played at Igbajo United's home ground, saw the team dominate proceedings with several scoring opportunities. Left-back Yahaya Dauda was instrumental in creating early threats, while forwards Ugoh Godwin and Ganiyu tested the Dakkada goalkeeper with powerful headers.

The breakthrough finally came in the 51st minute when Mutiu Babalola nodded home from a well-delivered corner kick, sending the home crowd into raptures and securing the vital three points for Igbajo United.

Fakile urged the players and fans to stay focused and united as the team prepares for a tough away fixture against high-flying Crown FC in Match Day 17 next weekend.

“As we prepare for our next challenge against Crown FC, we believe in your abilities and potential. Let's keep pushing forward, stay focused, and make us proud again,” he added.

Igbajo United will now look to build on this momentum as they aim to climb out of the relegation zone next weekend when they face high-flying Crown FC of Ogbomosho.
