Bayelsa state's Commissioner for Sports Development, Daniel Igali, has commended Bayelsa Queens for their victorious start to the 2024-25 NWFL Premiership Super Six Playoffs in Ikenne, Ogun State.
Bayelsa Queens defeated their fierce South-South local rivals, Rivers Angels, 1-0 to kick-start their playoffs campaign on Saturday.
Igali, who was in Ikenne to support the Prosperity Girls, praised Bayelsa Queens' dedication and resilience in securing a vital derby win, speaking to journalists after the game.
Igali urged the team to keep the momentum going in their upcoming matches, stressing that Governor Douye Diri and the entire people of Bayelsa are solidly and prayerfully behind them.
Bayelsa Queens now turn their attention to Nasarawa Amazons, the team that knocked them out of the Federation Cup, on Monday, while Rivers Angels will battle another South-South team, Edo Queens, on the same day.
