2023/2024 NPFL Match Day 26: Ibadan agog as Shooting Stars SC records first ever win over Remo Stars FC

Ibadan fans went wild on Sunday after their beloved team, Shooting Stars SC, recorded their first-ever win over visiting Remo Stars FC in Match Day 26 of the 2023/2024 season.


The NPFL Match 26, played at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Adamasingba, saw Christian Pyagbara score twice in the 17th and 80th minutes, sealing a glorious victory for the Oluyole Warriors in the highly anticipated Southwest derby.


It's worth noting that Shooting Stars SC of Ibadan had never beaten Remo Stars since their first encounter in 2017, with seven matches played, three of which ended in a draw. The first encounter on 19.07.2017 in Ikenne ended in a draw, as did the reverse match on 25.02.2017. Other encounters include:


- Remo Stars 1-0 Shooting Stars (06.02.2022)
- Shooting Stars 1-1 Remo Stars (01.06.2022)
- Remo Stars 2-0 Shooting Stars (25.01.2023)


However, on 01.11.2023, Remo Stars defeated Shooting Stars 3-0 at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, followed by a 1-1 draw on 09.04.2023.


Nevertheless, Match Day 26 of the 2023/2024 NPFL proved to be the Gbenga Ogunbote-tutored team's opportunity to break the jinx with a flawless performance against their long-time adversary, Remo Stars FC.


Upon witnessing the victory, the fans rose to their feet in admiration of the team and chanted the club's anthem to show their appreciation.


One fan, Kayode Adeyemi, expressed the significance of the team to the inhabitants of Ibadan, as well as their joy over the victory against Remo Stars FC.


"Shooting Stars is our beloved team, so we expect them to be in a comfortable position to secure a win over Remo Stars FC," he said.
