Hull City Close in on Super Eagles Star Femi Azeez Transfer

Hull City are closing in on a move for Nigeria international Femi Azeez as the newly promoted Premier League club continue to strengthen their squad. The 25-year-old winger has attracted significant interest after an outstanding season with Millwall.

Azeez scored 11 goals and provided seven assists in the Championship during the 2025/26 campaign. He made 35 league appearances according to FBref, while Opta records 37 appearances across the Championship season.

His performances made him one of Millwall’s most important attacking players. The Nigerian also earned recognition as one of the standout performers in the division and has attracted interest from several clubs.

Hull have now emerged as the leading contenders for his signature. The Tigers see Azeez as a player who can add pace, creativity and goals to their attack as they prepare for their return to the Premier League.

Hull secured promotion to the top flight after a successful Championship campaign. Their return to the Premier League has increased the need to strengthen the squad before the new season.

The club have already added Senegal international defender Nobel Mendy from Rayo Vallecano. Hull confirmed the signing on August 12, with Mendy agreeing to a five-year contract and an option for another season.

Azeez would provide another attacking option for manager Sergej Jakirovic. His ability to play from wide positions and contribute directly to goals makes him an attractive target for a side preparing for the demands of top-flight football.

Millwall are understood to be reluctant to sell unless their valuation is met. The Championship club have already rejected interest from Ipswich Town, while other Premier League clubs have also monitored the Nigerian.

The transfer would represent a major career step for Azeez. He joined Millwall in 2024 after leaving Reading and has since established himself as an important Championship player. Opta records 13 goals and 12 assists for Millwall across his league career.

A move to Hull would also fulfil Azeez’s ambition of playing in the Premier League. His recent form has placed him in position to make that step after helping Millwall compete near the top end of the Championship last season.

Hull are working against time as they prepare for their Premier League return. The Tigers begin their league campaign against Manchester United on August 22, increasing the pressure to complete their remaining transfer business before the season begins.

For Nigeria, a successful move would give Azeez an opportunity to test himself regularly against some of the best clubs and defenders in English football. His progress at Hull could also strengthen his position within the Super Eagles setup ahead of upcoming international assignments.
