Horoya AC continued their strong run at the West Africa Champion's Cup on Wednesday. The Guinean champions beat FC Diarra 2-1 in Kankan. The result marked Horoya's second straight win in the tournament.
The match formed part of matchday six of the WACC 2026. It took place at the Stade M'Ballou Mady Glao Diakité in Kankan, Guinea.
Yakhouba Gnagna Barry was the standout performer for Horoya AC. He scored twice in the first half. His first goal came in the 10th minute. He added a second in the 31st minute. His brace put Horoya firmly in control.
FC Diarra tried to fight back. Brahima Traoré scored for the Malian side in the 24th minute. His goal came between Barry's two strikes. It briefly narrowed the gap. But Horoya held their nerve: they defended their lead until the final whistle.
This win builds on Horoya's earlier victory over Djoliba AC. Horoya beat the defending champions 2-1 on matchday four. That result came after a difficult start to the tournament: Horoya opened the WACC with a 2-0 loss to Stade Malien.
With this latest result, Horoya AC finished the group phase strongly. They picked up two wins and one loss across their three matches. The form is a good sign ahead of Horoya's CAF Champions League campaign.
FC Diarra had a tougher week. The Malian club has struggled for results in this year's competition. They drew 0-0 with Hafia FC earlier in the tournament. They also lost 3-2 to FC Nzidane of Mauritania. Wednesday's defeat added to a difficult run for the club.
The WACC is a pre-season tournament. It helps West African clubs prepare for CAF interclub competitions. Nine clubs from four countries are taking part this year. The tournament runs from August 14 to August 22 in Kankan.
Horoya AC will now turn their attention to the final standings. The group phase wraps up on Thursday. The result could shape their preparation for continental football later this year.
