2026/2027 Euromatch NPFL Matchday 6: High-Flying Rivers United Face Ranchers Bees Test

Rivers United will put their impressive start to the 2026/2027 Euromatch Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season on the line when they travel to Kano to face Ranchers Bees in a Matchday 6 encounter.

The Pride of Rivers have emerged as one of the early pace-setters, winning three of their four matches and drawing the other to remain unbeaten.

They opened their campaign with a 2-0 victory over former champions Plateau United before repeating the scoreline against Warri Wolves following their CAF Confederation Cup exit.

A 1-1 draw away to Nasarawa United was followed by their most emphatic result yet — a commanding 5-0 victory over Kun Khalifat on Thursday.

The four-match sequence has produced 10 goals for Rivers United and just one against, underlining their attacking efficiency and defensive solidity. They also have a rescheduled fixture against Katsina United.

Ranchers Bees, however, present a different challenge, particularly on home soil, despite suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Rangers International in their most recent outing.

The newly promoted side began the campaign with a 3-1 loss to Ikorodu City but responded emphatically with a 4-0 victory over Abia Warriors.

They followed that with a 3-1 defeat to Barau FC before recovering to edge Bendel Insurance 2-1, only to suffer another setback against Rangers in their latest encounter.

Ranchers Bees will therefore be seeking a response against a Rivers United side arriving with considerable attacking momentum.

The Kano encounter will also provide another test of Rivers United's credentials near the top of the table, with the Port Harcourt side hoping to maintain pressure on leaders Barau FC.

Rivers United technical adviser Finidi George has already expressed confidence in the quality available to him, insisting that his squad possesses enough quality to compete strongly compared with last season.

With both sides seeking points for different reasons, the encounter at the Sani Abacha Stadium promises to test Rivers United's impressive early-season form while giving Ranchers Bees an opportunity to respond to their latest setback.
