2025/2026 NWFL Matchday 6: Heartland Queens Outclass Ibom Angels 2–0

Heartland Queens FC delivered a commanding performance to secure a 2–0 victory over Ibom Angels FC on Matchday 6 of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership at the Dan Anyiam Stadium. The Owerri-based side earned a standing ovation from home supporters after an impressive all-round display.

From the opening whistle, the Landladies asserted their authority, dominating possession, setting the tempo, and pressing aggressively as they forced Ibom Angels deep into their own half. Their attacking intent was rewarded in the 27th minute when Umejiaku Oluebube rose above her markers to head home a superb cross from Chizoba Johnson, ending her goal drought and giving the hosts a deserved lead.

Heartland Queens maintained their momentum after the opener, continuing to apply pressure on the Ibom Angels defense. Their persistence paid off again just before halftime, as Oluebube broke free on the flank in the 44th minute and squared the ball for Oyinyechi Kalu, who calmly finished to double the advantage.

The second half began at a more measured pace, but Heartland Queens gradually regained control, creating several clear-cut chances and forcing the visitors into sustained defensive work. Despite a few near misses, the hosts remained composed and comfortably saw out the contest to claim all three points.

The result lifts Heartland Queens into fourth place on the NWFL Premiership table with eight points, while Ibom Angels drop to fifth with seven points. Heartland Queens will next face a challenging Matchday 7 away fixture against Rivers Angels in Port Harcourt as they aim to build on this impressive victory.
