The 2026 President Federation Cup will reach its climax on Saturday, July 11, at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, with debut finalists Heartland Queens and Ikorodu City hoping to make history against two of Nigeria's established cup sides.
The women's final will begin at 12:00 p.m. as Heartland Queens face two-time champions Nasarawa Amazons. Later, at 4:00 p.m., defending champions El-Kanemi Warriors will take on first-time finalists Ikorodu City in the men's final.
Heartland Queens have enjoyed a remarkable campaign to reach their first-ever President Federation Cup final. The Owerri club defeated Dragon Fury Ladies, Ahudiyannem Queens and Ibom Angels before edging FC Robo Queens in the semi-finals. Their consistent performances have made them one of the tournament's biggest success stories.
Standing in their way are Nasarawa Amazons, one of the most successful clubs in Nigerian women's football. The Lafia-based side began their campaign with a win over Osklean FC before overcoming Naija Ratels and Edo Queens in penalty shootouts. They secured their place in the final with a narrow victory over Sunshine Queens in the semi-finals at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.
The men's final also promises plenty of excitement as El-Kanemi Warriors defend the title they won in 2024. The Maiduguri club has a rich history in the competition, having previously lifted the trophy in 1991 and 1992 before ending a long wait with victory over Abia Warriors two years ago.
Ikorodu City will be chasing the biggest achievement in the club's history. The Lagos-based side has impressed throughout this year's competition, producing disciplined performances to reach its first President Federation Cup final. A victory would complete a memorable campaign and secure the club's first major domestic trophy.
The stakes extend beyond lifting the famous trophy. The winners of the men's final will earn Nigeria's ticket to the 2026-27 CAF Confederation Cup, adding continental qualification to the prize on offer.
Saturday's finals will showcase a battle between experience and ambition in both categories. Nasarawa Amazons and El-Kanemi Warriors will rely on their winning pedigree, while Heartland Queens and Ikorodu City will hope to write new chapters in their club histories.
Football supporters are expected to turn out in large numbers in Asaba as the curtain falls on another exciting edition of Nigeria's oldest domestic cup competition.
