Heartland International FC returned to winning ways on Wednesday, defeating Plateau United FC to intensify the relegation battle involving other struggling teams such as Niger Tornadoes, Sunshine Stars, and Akwa United FC.
The Naze Millionaires gave themselves a lifeline with a 2-0 victory over Plateau United, lifting them to 45 points.
Akwa United, however, remain in serious trouble after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Bendel Insurance.
The result leaves the Uyo-based side stuck on 41 points, with time running out to avoid relegation.
Meanwhile, the Emmanuel Amuneke-tutored team now sits on 45 points from 36 matches, having recorded 11 wins, 12 draws, and 13 losses.
