Demoted Heartland International FC has begun a major rebuilding project with the arrival of top Dutch consultant Tom Sanders in Owerri to assess players and open international pathways for the Naze Millionaires.
Sanders, who has over 25 years of experience working across African football, expressed optimism after observing Heartland’s training session.
“My first impression is very positive. There’s real talent here. With patience and daily work, this group can succeed,” he said.
Technical Manager Emmanuel Amuneke (MFR) described the partnership as vital to restoring Heartland’s status as a leading African club.
“Heartland is not a small club. We once reached the 2009 CAF Champions League final. This collaboration will help take us to the next level,” Amuneke stated.
Imo FA Chairman Barr. Ifeanyi Dike also commended the initiative, comparing it to historic Africa–Europe partnerships such as Ajax Cape Town/Ajax Amsterdam and ASEC Mimosas/Arsenal.
The new collaboration is expected to enhance player development, provide international exposure, and strengthen technical and organizational growth. The club’s management emphasized that a new chapter has begun for the Naze Millionaires as they prepare for life in the lower league.
