Harry Maguire Urges Manchester United to Prioritise Key Summer Recruitment

Harry Maguire has stressed the importance of a successful summer transfer window for Manchester United, insisting that the club must bring in players capable of coping with the unique demands of playing at Old Trafford.

The defender, who has extended his stay at United with a new one-year deal plus an option for a further year, believes recent recruitment has improved the squad and helped close the gap on rivals such as Manchester City and Arsenal. However, he warned that further additions are still needed if the team is to continue progressing.

Maguire highlighted the intensity and scrutiny that comes with representing Manchester United, saying that some past signings have struggled under the pressure of expectations and constant public analysis. He explained that every mistake is heavily judged, making mental strength just as important as talent.

Looking ahead, the England international insisted that the upcoming transfer window will be crucial, especially with United not competing in Europe next season and facing a congested domestic schedule. He believes the club must increase squad depth and add higher-quality players who can push directly into the starting XI.

Despite United’s inconsistent performances in recent years, Maguire remains optimistic that with the right recruitment strategy, the club could soon challenge for major trophies again.
