Manchester United have confirmed that defender Harry Maguire has signed a new contract that extends his stay at Old Trafford until June 2027, with the club holding the option to add another year to the deal.
The 33‑year‑old England international was set to become a free agent at the end of the season, but both parties agreed terms to keep him at the Premier League club. Since joining United from Leicester City in 2019 for a then‑record fee for a centre‑back, Maguire has made more than 260 appearances and contributed to the team’s trophy successes.
Maguire expressed his pride and satisfaction at extending his time with the Red Devils, emphasising the honour of representing one of England’s most iconic clubs and his desire to create more memorable moments with the supporters. The centre‑back’s leadership and experience have been highlighted as key assets for a squad blending youth with ambition.
Director of football Jason Wilcox praised Maguire’s professionalism and resilience, stressing how valuable his presence is both on and off the pitch as United continue their push for sustained success. The extension ensures continuity in defence as the club looks to build on its recent progress in the league standings.
Under interim manager Michael Carrick this season, Maguire has regained a regular role in the side after a period of fluctuating fortunes, contributing to Manchester United’s resurgence in the Premier League.
