England striker Harry Kane has suggested he is open to extending his contract with Bayern Munich beyond 2027, indicating that his once-strong desire to return to the Premier League has diminished. Kane, who joined the German champions from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023, has been in remarkable form since his arrival, scoring 103 goals in 106 appearances and winning both the Bundesliga and German Super Cup.
The 32-year-old’s performances have made him one of Europe’s most prolific forwards, prompting speculation about his future, particularly with reports of a €67 million ($78.4 million) release clause in his current deal. Speaking to British media, Kane said he would be willing to discuss a contract extension if Bayern approached him.
“I could definitely see that,” Kane said. “I haven’t had those conversations with Bayern yet, but if they were to arise, I would be open to having an honest discussion. Of course, it depends on how the next year or so goes and what we achieve together. Right now, I’m just focused on the present — we’re in a fantastic moment.”
Kane also reflected on his connection to English football, acknowledging that while a return once seemed inevitable, it now feels less likely. “If you’d asked me when I first joined Bayern, I would have said I’d come back for sure,” he admitted. “Now, after a couple of years here, that’s gone down a little bit — but I wouldn’t say never. You never know how things unfold in football. Right now, I’m fully committed to Bayern.”
Kane remains the Premier League’s second-highest scorer of all time with 213 goals, just 47 shy of Alan Shearer’s long-standing record. Tottenham fans have often voiced their hopes of seeing him back in English football, but for now, the England captain’s focus remains firmly on his journey with Bayern Munich.
Currently, Kane is part of the England squad preparing to face Wales in a friendly at Wembley on Thursday before traveling to Riga to play Latvia in a World Cup qualifier on October 14.
