Hansi Flick has officially signed a new two-year contract with FC Barcelona, with the agreement including an option for an additional third year. The announcement comes shortly after he guided the Catalan club to their second consecutive LaLiga title.
Barcelona secured the championship on Sunday with a 2-0 victory over fierce rivals Real Madrid, further strengthening Flick’s impact since taking charge in 2024. The German coach expressed satisfaction with the renewal, saying it provides stability and confidence to continue building the team.
Flick explained that the contract structure suits both him and the club, emphasizing flexibility over long-term commitment. He noted that both sides retain the option to reassess the project in the coming years depending on progress and results.
Since arriving in Catalonia, Flick has already delivered two LaLiga titles, one Copa del Rey, and two Spanish Super Cups. However, the UEFA Champions League remains the missing piece in his Barcelona tenure, despite his previous success with Bayern Munich in 2020.
Barcelona’s European campaigns under Flick have ended in disappointment, including a quarterfinal exit against Atletico Madrid this season and a dramatic semifinal loss to Inter Milan the year before. The coach acknowledged the challenge but stressed his determination to keep pushing for Europe’s top prize.
Flick stated that the club’s ambition remains firmly focused on winning the Champions League, describing it as the ultimate goal for Barcelona. He added that both he and the team are committed to working harder to reach that level again in the coming seasons.
