Niger Tornadoes FC fought back from an early setback to secure a 1–1 draw against Barau FC in an entertaining Group Stage encounter at the Gusau/Ahlan Pre-Season Tournament in Katsina.
Barau FC seized the initiative just six minutes into the encounter when former Enyimba and Katsina United forward Joseph Atule produced a clinical finish to put his side in front.
The lead, however, lasted only three minutes as Niger Tornadoes responded swiftly through Xhaka John, who found the back of the net in the ninth minute to restore parity.
With the scores level, both sides settled into an engaging contest, with Barau FC relying on quick transitions while the Ikon Allah Boys gradually grew into the game and enjoyed more possession.
The encounter remained open, with both teams showing attacking ambition and creating opportunities, although neither could produce the finishing touch needed to break the deadlock.
Goalkeepers on both sides were kept busy at different stages as the teams traded attacking moves in search of a winning goal.
Despite the sustained pressure and high tempo, the decisive strike proved elusive, with the two teams eventually sharing the spoils after an entertaining 1–1 draw.
