Guardiola insists Man City feel no added pressure ahead of crucial Palace clash

Posted : 12 May 2026

Pep Guardiola has dismissed suggestions that Manchester City are under increased pressure as they approach a decisive Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace. With three matches remaining, City sit five points behind leaders Arsenal but still have a game in hand.

A defeat or draw at the Etihad would leave Arsenal on the brink of securing their first league title in over two decades, potentially as early as next week. Despite the high stakes, Guardiola insisted the team’s mindset has remained unchanged in recent days.

The City manager, who is targeting his seventh Premier League title, said he does not focus on external pressure or results beyond his control. Instead, he emphasized improving performances after recent dropped points, including a 3-3 draw against Everton.

Guardiola admitted he had not yet fully assessed his squad’s reaction to Arsenal’s late victory over West Ham, but stressed the importance of concentration and consistency as the title race reaches its final stage.

Looking ahead to the Crystal Palace fixture, Guardiola rejected concerns that their opponents might lack motivation, pointing to the professionalism of Premier League teams even when objectives have already been achieved.

He also provided a positive update on injured players, noting that Rodri and Abdukodir Khusanov are recovering well, with a final decision on their availability to be made after training.

Beyond the league, Manchester City remain active in multiple competitions, including an upcoming FA Cup final against Chelsea, as they continue their pursuit of a domestic treble this season.
