Green Atlas FC of Kaduna has appointed Shola Ibrahim Adewuyi as its new Head Coach, with a vision to develop world-class players capable of competing at the highest international levels.
At the unveiling event, the club’s Chairman, Moses Adebisi, emphasized his commitment to sports development in Nigeria, stressing the importance of identifying and nurturing local talent.
“We’re looking to reach deep into remote areas to find talented individuals and help them fulfill their potential. Sometimes, talent emerges and then fades away, so I’ve always had a passion for contributing to the improvement of national sports,” he said.
Adebisi explained that the club will initially focus on football, with plans to expand into other sports in the future. He added:
“There are players out there who are better than Ronaldo and Messi, but they never had the opportunity to showcase their talent.”
Adewuyi, formerly the head coach of Remo Stars, pledged to leverage his experience to develop the team and help Green Atlas achieve its objectives.
“I’m here to develop players to achieve their targets while supporting the management’s vision and objectives,” Adewuyi stated.
Throughout his career, Adewuyi has coached several teams, including Rainbow Stars, Kada City, and Niger Tornadoes. He notably led Kada City to promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) and won the Super 8 tournament in Aba.
“When Late Ekine Abubakar formed Kada City, he invited me to help. With God’s grace, within six months, I got the team promoted to the NPFL and won the Super 8 in Aba,” he recounted.
Sports administrator Vincent Akinbami praised the appointment, highlighting both the chairman’s dedication to talent development and Adewuyi’s professionalism:
“This marks the beginning of a new projection for Nigerian football. Recognizing and nurturing talent is essential for exposing players to global opportunities for the benefit of the country,” Akinbami said.
Green Atlas FC aims to contribute significantly to Nigeria’s sports growth, focusing on football, athletics, and basketball, while producing players capable of representing Nigeria and other clubs internationally.
