Gov. Douye Diri Women’s Pre-Season: Okoraofor’s Brace Fires Nasarawa Amazons Into Semi-Finals

Posted : 10 October 2026

Nasarawa Amazons booked their place in the semi-finals of the ongoing Governor Douye Diri Women’s Pre-Season Football Tournament in Yenagoa with a convincing 3-1 victory over Enugu Rangers Women on Matchday 4.

The Lafia-based side delivered an impressive attacking performance, with Okoraofor Deborah scoring twice after Okon Blessing had opened the scoring to give the Amazons a commanding advantage.

Blessing put Nasarawa Amazons ahead in the 12th minute before Okoraofor doubled the lead with a composed finish after rounding Rangers’ goalkeeper.

Okoraofor struck again shortly afterward to complete her brace and stretch the advantage to 3-0, leaving Rangers Women with a difficult task to get back into the contest.

The Enugu side, however, pulled one goal back in the 31st minute, beating Amazons goalkeeper Okoye Chioma to reduce the deficit to 3-1 before the break.

Nasarawa Amazons went into halftime with a two-goal cushion after establishing their dominance early in the encounter.

Both teams created opportunities after the restart, but improved defensive organization ensured that neither side added to the scoreline.

The victory secured a semi-final berth for the Lafia Landladies, who will now face tournament hosts Bayelsa Queens FC for a place in the final.

The encounter against the hosts presents another test for Nasarawa Amazons as they seek to maintain their winning momentum and strengthen their preparations ahead of the new women’s football season.
