Nasarawa Amazons fought back from an early setback to secure a 1–1 draw against Remo Stars Ladies at the ongoing Governor Douye Diri Women’s Pre-Season Football Tournament in Yenagoa.
The Lafia-based side fell behind as early as the fifth minute after Remo Stars Ladies converted their first corner kick to take the lead in the Matchday 3 encounter.
Rather than allowing the early setback to affect their rhythm, Nasarawa Amazons gradually grew into the contest and mounted pressure in search of an equaliser.
Their efforts eventually paid off in the 32nd minute when Isaac Delight produced a brilliant effort to restore parity and send both sides into the interval level at 1–1.
The second half witnessed a more competitive battle, with the Amazons showing greater attacking intent as they pushed for the winning goal.
However, Remo Stars Ladies remained compact and disciplined at the back, frustrating several attacking moves from the Lafia Landladies.
Nasarawa Amazons continued to press until the closing stages, but neither side could find the breakthrough needed to claim maximum points.
The draw gives Nasarawa Amazons their first point of the tournament after they suffered an opening-day defeat to Ahudianeyem Queens.
The Lafia Landladies will have little time to dwell on the result as they face Rivers Angels at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6, at the Samson Siasia Sports Complex, Yenagoa.
Nasarawa Amazons will be aiming to end their campaign on a winning note after recording one defeat and one draw in their opening two matches.
