Gombe United Football Club has appealed to its supporters, stakeholders, and the wider football community to remain calm and law-abiding as it awaits the outcome of its appeal before the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Appeal Committee. The club stressed the need for patience and responsible conduct while the process is ongoing.
The appeal follows a summary ruling delivered by the Nigeria National League (NNL) Disciplinary Committee over an incident that occurred during Matchday 7 of the current NNL season at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe. Dissatisfied with the decision, the Savannah Scorpions have formally exercised their right to challenge the ruling.
In a statement, the club said it has full confidence in due process and believes the appeal panel will objectively review all the circumstances surrounding the match incident. Gombe United maintains that the applicable regulations support the awarding of three points and three goals to the home side after the visiting team abandoned the fixture, even after the expiration of the stipulated 20-minute grace period.
Despite the ongoing appeal, the club reaffirmed its commitment to discipline, sportsmanship, and respect for football authorities. Management also warned supporters against actions or comments that could worsen the situation or damage the image of the club and the league.
Gombe United added that it remains focused on its objectives for the 2025/2026 season and will continue to cooperate fully with all relevant football bodies. The club assured stakeholders that it would promptly communicate the final outcome once the NFF Appeal Committee delivers its verdict.
The management concluded by thanking supporters for their continued loyalty, patience, and understanding during this challenging period.
